....capitalism is dying......
Growing up in a home where my father worked for a union, almost swayed my thinking to the union way! Once you're indoctrinated into that system of entitlement, it is very hard for anyone to want away from it! I would say the turning point was when I heard my dad telling my mother that the union took 47 dollars a month out of his check, and that they just donated millions to a democrat running for office without taking a vote or asking other union members if it was okay! It's great getting big wages and benefits by forcing companies to adhere to your every wish until that same union mafia decides to put someone in charge of your country that you don't want!
I realize why so many want unions in their companies! They hate corporate America! One can simply read the hubbs on this site and see many complaining about how they are underpaid and how they can't get a job because so many companies are moving overseas! Hating or resenting corporate America will lead to the death of economy in this country! You hate because you have been taught to hate by liberals who use this to control business!
Why would a leader of a major corporation want to move his company overseas? Your first answer is GREED! Greed is a word derived from liberal propaganda. There is not a one million dollar a year CEO that wants to leave this country! They are being forced to! Due to liberal government; corporations cannot and will not tolerate their diminishing rights and freedoms any longer! If you opened a business in the morning, would it be to lose money? Would it be to just make a tiny bit of profit? According to liberals, if you make good money its greed and evil! So if you make more than a measly living you are one greedy evil bastard!
A large corporation employing 5000 workers, with an average salary of 60K each, would have to collect 60 million a year in federal employment tax for the government. The law of the land dictates that same company dig into their hopeful profits or savings and match that number with their own funds! Now this company collected 60 million from the paychecks of employees that want their jobs and more money, but they can't give them any more money because they have to send in 120 million in taxes!
That is not good enough for government! Because you have over 20 employees, you must provide workmen's comp insurance for them! Workmen's comp for 5000 employees will run around 1,000,000 a MONTH! Yes, that's ONE MILLION a MONTH! I based this on office workers where I last worked and our cost for 50 employees was 10 thousand per month! From 50 employees dividing 10 thousand a month to 5000 employees dividing 1 million a month among our checks would equal a nice raise and better standard of living for all! (I'm sure the more people the better price a company may get on WComp. So even if this number is less, it doesn't diminish the hardship)
Now with government imposed health care averaging a tax of 3 grand per person yearly, the cost of employees just added another 150 million a year! On top of the perks and health insurance your company is already providing!
Most large corporations are run by high paid CEOS. These CEOS want to keep their jobs and must show their stock holders a profit and growth! What better way to do this than move overseas? If I owned stock in these types of corporations, I would want them to make me as much money as possible! Therefore, I applaud them for leaving the US! If I owned a company and could maintain the same customer base while adding over 200million in profit just for moving my warehouse or factory outside these borders, you would see coffee on my desk still warm, while the factory is a ghost town!
You went to these corporations and offered your services! They in turn accepted your services and offered to pay you a certain sum of money and possibly benefits! Months or years later they no longer desired or needed your services and let you go! Now you're mad! You feel this company owed you more? You think once they hire you, they have an obligation to keep you until death or retirement?
Corporations don't have an obligation to you or to invest money in green energy or studying alternative energy sources! They have an obligation to make each and every person who OWNS them money! That is it! Nothing else!
Taking a job instead of taking the risk of owning your own business is a choice! You take risks either way! Open your own business if you're not satisfied with the way corporations do these days! Mortgage your home and work 20 hour days and stress over the bills and suppliers and taxes etc, then, when the union or government walks in one day and says this is how we plan on punishing you, decide whether to stay and lose money, or leave the country for greener pastures! If this is your baby, I bet you're living in India before the month is up!
You brought this on yourself by begging and allowing government to ruin capitalism in this country! Capitalism provides jobs and creates growth and will continue as long as they are left alone with freedom and opportunity to continue! Once they begin to lose the game, they make instant decisions to get back to profit mode! Most of you will suffer when this happens! And many, many more of you are in danger of your companies moving or closing this next year!
All of the Bush tax cuts will fade away next year, and unemployment will rise even further! Many of you are on borrowed time with no savings and no plan and more debt than you should have! Read Dave Ramsay and save yourself! Start saving now and get ready for tribulation!
And if you're serious about saving business and jobs in this country, VOTE for a conservative that cares about America and it's people!
I care for this country and I certainly want business to stay here and bless us with jobs and revenue! But I also would like to see a mass exodus of big business leaving as they are beginning to, as a sign to government to ease up!
America was built on capitalism. Built on freedom. Built on individualism! If this is the recipe for greatness, ask yourself why anyone including our president would see this change? Maybe there is something more sinister here than meets the eye! Liberalism and hate for big business is causing countries around the world to fail! Do you really want to pursue this same path of destruction?

You are so wrong on so many counts its hard to know where to begin. Let's work backwards!! This country was built on the freedom of white northern Europeans only. This country was built on the backs of slaves and indentured servants. The capiltalists in the north made fortunes bringing enslaved Africans for cheap labor, apparently this is the only part of America you believe in, plutocrats , mostly lucky to be born into a family, get to treat people that they rely on to keep them rich, as slaves. Women were for all intensive purposes slaves, with almost no rights at all. I won't try to discuss our treatment of natives. And although you are right that individualism built this country, indivdualism was fought and died for the right to be free.
Mass exodus of business based on your interpretation of greed is pathetic and again against everything you think we stand for. Business and capitalism and labor could and do live harmoniously in many places and in many companies. Union happened because, like you, people who ran corporations like BP and mining companies, think of workers as tools, expendible, to be thrown out with the trash and although the workers have made the capilatlist rich with his sweat and toil...YOU believe its American if he drops dead from his labor, you know like being too cheap to give the workers the proper protection while cleaning up the pigsty corporations made of the Gulf, because you know that will cost the stock holder some money and we can always get more desperate people to die cleaning up the corporate terrorism, at least their family may be able to live on a little while longer. You are right thzt many plutocrats believe as you do and have through the ages, but our freedom came from the people who organized against this planter mentality on the plantations and in the northern factories.
And of course in your little daitribe you forget to mention how much workers have given back for the sins of the ceo. Unions rules for safety and a decent way of life, is not, nor never has been the culprit, although I know that many unions themselves have been corrupted by the same greed and corruption that has always plagued the plutocrats. These plutocrats you call consevratives have controlled our government because they could buy it. And you are so pissed that the individual you revere so much has the audacity to organize themselves as a force to combat the power of money.
You are just so angry that people have learned what plutocrats and wannabe plutocrats like yourself and the so called conservatives, more like radicals give the political power almost exclusively to corporate money.
As for your tax quotes etc. I have no idea how accurate you are, but no where in your calculations are the subsidies and tax breaks that routinely have made large corporations the benefit of govenment welfare. Tax breaks and give aways to renew machinery, employ more people, you forget depreciation and a myriad of other deductions that makes the wealthiest end up paying, by per centage of their wealth, less than someone making far less.
It's amazing how you missed that small part of the story.

And they have not invested back into the country for these great tax breaks, in fact just the opposite. The last time we heard these screams about deficit spending is under Reagan when he reduced the tax of the wealthy, let corporations run from this country and threw the nation into debt, that liberals said genrrations after us will have to pay for. Clinton came in, raised the tax a bit, economy grew and debt paid and surplus...enter your so called conservative, the Cheney neo con regime and we rape the government, we kill thousands of Americans on a war based on treason by the Cheney regime and of course turn our government security to Haliburton and Black Water mercenary army.

Great hub. The direction we are headed in at present, guarantees a bleak future for our country. Western Europe is not a model for success. We need to get government out of our lives and off our backs and recapture the spirit of invention, creativity and growth. Big government control is stagnating.

Great hub! Let's get the boat of private enterprise moving again. Too nice a day to argue with lib who think they have the right answers. A few fact checking attempts would teach them that it was the southern Dems that kept slavery going and although not slaves anymore, they keep the masses enslaved with entitlements.

I just disagree with just about all of it. Corps are taking over the world and subverting not only the common people but entire Governments. It will not be long before Govs. are just a society of pointless figure heads because corps. will control everything. We see this in the ‘to big to fail’ philosophy that is so prevalent in our so called leadership around the world, the fact it is almost too late already.

Oh and Charlie, I almost forgot, I owned a business for 18 years and NEVER got subsidized, and the depreciation ect you speak of is nothing! You see where a corporation wrote off 5 million in depreciation? They spent 50 to get that this year! In all reality a smart corporation will use every loop hole and advantage to not pay taxes, just as YOU do when figuring your tax Charlie, I would also agree that most funnel their tax burden on to the consumer, but they are still bound by so much burden from unions to government crap and trying to invest in new business ect. its impossible to sustain under he weight of the current administration! The companies that can't move out of the country move to a 'friendlier' state. Vermont, for example, has run almost every large employer out of state. There's only one insurance company allowed to sell health insurance in VT.

And Joey my wife and I owned businesses for 14 years. Three retail and a carpet cleaning business. And we paid our taxes and treated our employess fairly and made an excellent living and maintained the standards of the community and sold the businesses for profits. So not everyone in business thinks of their employess as things and some of us understand the benefit of regulations and standards.

Well to begin with there were many republicans who participated in governing before they were hijacked by the KKK and John Birch Society, they were always in the pockets of corporatists...but since you askes an again this off the top of my head: medicais, medicare, headstart, peace corps, the moon and all the benefits we have gained by it, civil rights act of 64,65,68; the disability act; clean air act...people can now swim inthe great lakes, clean water act, health care, cleaning up voodoo economics of Reagan and Bushies, fight tooth in nail against turning the government into a relgious institution, affirmative action that helped women more than any other group in America, Camp David Accord, bringing peace to Bosnia...there are many things democrats screwed up big time..Vietnam among the worst and of course the racist democratic south...thats just off hand and now you...not just republicans, because in all the human advances mentioned above republicans were right there and many southern democrats were not..and if you look at a list of those who vote against demcoracy in the last twenty years it is the republican party of the confederacy religious right and intolerance...now you...of course you cant count Reagan and Nixon because they were far too liberal for you, all the nation building and deficit spending and all that talking to the enemy and finding common ground that finally eneder the cold war...what are you proud of as a conservative right wing zealot

Based on the title, I expected much more from this hub, unfortunately I was quite disappointed. The title is misleading, the writing/spelling is awful, and the opinions of the author, while understandable given the many decades of corporate/capitalist propaganda, are wrongheaded. I stopped buying into this kind of bs a long time ago coming from such would-be pundits. Now, I actually do research the history and also check any references cited (none in this case). The author, as all of us, would be of greater service to us and society by reading more extensively and engaging in critical thought before espousing opinions.
You and Redler should have a talk show. It would be hilarious until one of you killed the other (which would still be entertaining).
Brian, your right my grammar is lacking, but my point is not, I seldom do research on my subjects, I am not writing a report. I am writing my beliefs! Anyone can write a report, I want people who read my stuff to feel my passion and desire, I certainly need to spend more time on the grammer. And so if we allowed you to elect a President who wanted to cut taxes for the rich while paying for that tax cut with cutting spending on health care for seniors and the working people, that would destroy our economy and plunge us into the middle ages. Then how secure would the US be from attacks? Conservative Republicans want to return to the policies that have gotten our economy in a mess to begin with. Let me ask you this question, Ever got a job from a poor person? If everyone was poor and there were no rich where or what would you do for a living? do poor people donate to colleges? Do poor people keep the Red Cross in millions of dollars? Do poor people fund Steves boats on whalewatchers or whatever that is? Capitalism is the key to wealth for all! If you really don't believe it then study Hong Kong, richest city in the world! Even the poor have opportunity there! Good points- check out the coup in Australia - that underscores unions getting in control and having the power to insert their leader. It gets little coverage for how it happened as the focus is on the first female PM. Change the focus - where was the last country that happened in?
