2011 has come and gone,............Our forefathers would openly weep at the destruction the left has caused in this country. I can see George Washington kneeling over a log looking towards the heavens and begging God for mercy on this land, that once belonged to the free.
Even during the Great Depression not one person starved to death, and yet today we have 50 Million people on welfare and food stamps! People took care of one another during the Great Depression and still do today all though government takes handily from those who work and gives it to anyone that refuses to work just for the asking. There are no excuses, during the depression men walked hundreds of miles camping out on the side of roads and doorways to gain employment. My company runs adds daily for $22 dollar an hour jobs with health insurance located in small towns across Texas,New Mexico, and Oklahoma...........no takers?.......most say its too far to drive or too far from malls and restaurants..............I thought 50 Million people were starving? I was brought up believing you only accepted government assistance if you were desperate? I watched a group purchase chips and dip the other day in a 7-11 and paid with a state food card! ...........I guess they were starving for chips and dip?
Media has attached itself to the minds of almost one half of the American people! I did not graduate college yet spent most of my life asking questions when Cronkite would speak? Common sense told me he was lying or not asking the right questions of Democrats? I believed after Jimmy Carter and Bill Clinton, America got wise and would not make these mistakes again? Are Americans so dumbed down that all you have to say is hope and change and they will sell the family cow to support you? ...credentials be damned? When FOX came on line and asked the questions I had been asking from my couch for years I was overjoyed!.........over half of Americans hate FOX for asking those questions?.....strange? I thought truth was the object?
My heart is deeply burdened by the millions that support the Occupy Wall Street crowd! They are an embarrassement to the true American! They make us look weak and silly! They believe the rich got that way unfairly! Then move to Cuba where they believe the way you do? Notice this never happens? If another country on this planet had the same values and laws the US had 50 years ago I would sell everything and move there today! Why? Because 50 years ago a man could still start a business on a shoestring budget! He did not have regulation and permits and so many thuggish unions to deal with!............The catch is all of this negativity was started and forced upon us by the same ones who now claim FOUL!
The OWstreeters chant we want jobs, we want fairness!..........then they go to the voting booth and punch the Obama chad!............forgetting Obama killed the Keystone pipeline, stopped drilling in the gulf, killed farming in the desperate land of California, stopped logging in Arizona and New Mexico, Gave billions to solar companies that are now defunct! ..........and lets not mention appointed Corzine as a leader who went off and lost over 1 BILLION dollars of others life savings!.........In the name of fairness Obama did spend 1 TRILLION dollars building a couple of bridges............those bridges were finished in about 10 months and those few hundred people are now out of work again!.........come to think about it I haven't driven over one single bridge built with stimulus money?
The solutions to our current situation in this country are numerous and deep. Congress needs to put 6 Trillion dollars in savings tomorrow at 4% interest to maintain social security for the near future. When someone in government brings it up, it is quickly brushed under the rug, and the Democrats scream foul!
Many of our solutions would come about easily if for one simple fact..........morals and values! See, when you crave what others have the correct term is covet. Coveting is a sin! Sin leads to destruction! Destruction leads to ruin!.............need I keep going?
Those who believe the rich got it unfairly are a miserable site. Since the media doesn't want you to know the truth I will share some truths with you today............
Bill Haas won the FedEx Cup Golf Championship worth 10 million dollars! He would now be classified as rich or wealthy! His dad was a retired cop who went 6 figures in debt taking his son around the country playing junior golf tournaments while his mother worked a menial job for little pay! ...........they believed!
The owner of Best Buy can brag his company sells over 1 Billion a year to consumers! He started out in a rented little building selling used TVs and electronics! He was not able to take home a paycheck for the first ELEVEN YEARS he was in business!.....he believed!
TBoone Pickens filed bankrupt twice before making his little oil company into a multi-billion dollar business!.......he believed!
Rush Limbaugh got fired from radio and was told he would never make it in broadcasting! He is reported to make millions per year now!..........on radio!......he believed!
These are but a tiny few you might recognise that have created wealth, jobs for others and are living the American dream! There are literally millions who have the same stories and continue to do it today! They do it from NOTHING! They do it with no handouts or huge bank loans! They sacrifice, think, plan, and have a deep abiding ambition that most in America used to be born, and conditioned with! Unlike those have lost all hope and are now basing their lives and their welfare upon the failures of politicians!
We will vote new politicians into office this year! Watch the news! Become aware! Be willing to sacrifice time and effort into placing those in office who have morals and values! Stand up to opposition in public places! Ask your waitress who she is going to vote for! Explain to her the Republicans are not for the rich, they are for the ones who create jobs and wealth! Ask her if she ever got employed by a poor person?................and if by some miracle Obama wins the white house again and sends the liberals to your street to take your freedom, go to your hall closet and get out the tool your forefathers used to remove the British from this land God gave us! ....................Happy New Year!

Absolutely true in all aspects of this hub! Well written and voted up! I have a similar hub as well. Americans have absolutely lost their minds! As Adam Corolla states it, we are now in the " participation trophy " generation in which today's generation expects everything to be handed to them for nothing. Hard work and dedication to achieve something has been lost. We are in a generation in which if you told someone in their 20's that all they had to do was to drive to the office to collect a paycheck but not do any work but drive to the office to collect a check, they would bitch and moan that they had to drive to the office to pick it up! The OWS movement is a true disgrace to us all for sure and only solidifies that America has given up on ourselves! Damn shame!
Thank you for another hard hitting installment of the truth! I hate to say this, for I am a teacher, but the educational system is largely to blame for this, especially for the occu-toddler mentality. Mind you, I'm not saying the movement itself for I see the hand of politicians and union leaders in the instigation and formation thereof, but for the mentality of the young. The you should just give it to me now attitude too many of them have. It's called learned helplessness and we taught it to them. Anyone now who gets behind in skills needed to go to the next grade is "socially promoted" in lower grades. By the time they hit high school it's really hard to catch up. They are given some trumped up LD label and a watered down curriculum so they never learn the skills they need. What they do learn is that hard work is not needed to achieve. Anyone in the field who points this out risks being unemployed for not being sensitive to the rights of the disabled. Many, many students with this label are not disabled at all. Do you know for an LD label in reading or math one only needs be two years behind? Just because a student is behind that does not mean they are disabled! Grrr this drives me insane. We are destroying our young with stupid laws and policies that are more about politics and making everyone happy than they are about giving our children what they need to survive.

It might help if you stepped outside of the propaganda you're listening to and got the facts. American corporation are not creating jobs in America. They are creating jobs in the east where there are far more people to sell to. There are a billion people in India and another billion or six in China. That's where American corporations are opening businesses. They have no reason to open any more businesses in America because half of Americans (according to the last census) are either living below the poverty line or on the poverty line.
Your 'conservative values' are nothing but an ideology spun by the rich to get the rest of the people to grant them a licence to print money. There is no dribble down effect.

And as for American brains. Probably the least known information in this country is that American corporations no longer get their 'brilliant innovative ideas' from America. They hire the Japanese and the Israelis to do that. And before that, it was German brains. Eintein was at university with my late father. Werner von Braun was a German. America took the German brains after WWII.
Also, this country did not get rich from 'hard work' and their talents. They got rich because they were given the Reserve currency.
What the reserve currency means is that America can determine how many dollars every currency gets. That means they actually pay less for goods/oils that it is. It's currency manipulation.
However, the rest of the world are arranging to remove the reserve currency from the USA. you will face a level of poverty equivalent to the worst in South America and Africa.
There are no more resources in this country. You've given your manufacturing away.

I lived through the Thatcher and Reagan years. They robbed Peter to pay Paul and killed a good working system.
Amen to a great hub. If people want then they should be willing to work for it. Too many want what others have but they don't want to sacrifice to get it. I see this so much in my job people saying I have it made as a UPS driver great pay and benefits. But they didn't see a 34 year old father of 5 working part time at UPS for 6 years until a full time opened up. The sacrifice was huge and finally 17 years later it is starting to payoff. But for most that is too long they want it now feeling they are entitled.

What is truth, justice, and the American way? It is an ideology. The first movemnt that became a revolution was the idea against taxation without representation. An ideology the was the root that grew into the American Revolution. THe American way, hard work, being independent, and more is dying fast and when you look at the end of the weapon pointed at it is Obama pulling the trigger. I know the economy was hurting when he took office, but he took whatever glimmer of light there was and extinguished it. Not one policy he put in place yeilded a good result, they all failed. Some like the business regulations, tax hikes, and Obamacare will cost us for many years to come.
I noticed on the weekend political shows this weekend, Gingrich is taking heat for changing position on several issues he had back in the 90s. For example he favored Romneycare and later saw its down points after it was in action. He since has changed his mind and has a different plan. While Huntsman is inthe game I will continue to back him, if he drops out, my next choice is Gingrich. I would prefer a Preseident that admits he was wrong and change course than the current one who just does the same things over and over agin yeilding the same failed results. I would have more respect for Obama the person if he just comes out and says, the stimulus failed, the loans failed we need to do something else. Instead of another stimulus package, more loans that are doomed to fail because they wanted to spend the money before the deadline. You know those companies were not vetted, well maybe to see if they were donors.

We need a return to common sense values and solutions. Obama now wants more stimulus money. Nothing he has done so far has accomplished anything. Does it make any sense to throw more money away? Yes jobs are going overseas, because of regulation and high taxation! The products being built are being sold mainly back in the US! The workers there don't make enough money to purchase these items! Oh I forgot to mention UNIONS! Another plus for moving overseas to make profits! You mentioned brains? Say what you will! I've watched the republicans turn against the better hopefuls because of 'alleged' behavior and something-someone-said and what's the end game? The dems want Romney so they can attack him as a mormon, as unChristian, and Obama wins.
As of now, I'm thinking of working for Newt, in the hope I'm right and he's realized the jeopardy we're in. If so, he's the one who would know how to dismantle what's been done by Congress and Obama.
Interestingly, I read that John Boehner was one of the gang who wanted Newt out as Speaker, and I have my own suspicions about Boehner. Not having paid any attention to him over the years, when I saw him crying again and again after he became Speaker, I wondered if he'd sold out and was really crying because he knew what he was going to have to do to help make America Obama's dream communist state. So far, seeing what he's done, I think I was right.
Newt is the one neither republicans nor democrats want - I think he might be the right choice.

Fantastic hub, and even more fantastic truth. The thing that pains me the most about where we are as a country is this constant becrying of "I need help." The bad thing about complaining about that is, of course, once you do that you are immediately labeled ignorant to the needs of the needy, and incompassionate, or even racist. The word 'disenfranchise' gets used so often now even illiterate people know what the hell it means.
I think you're right when you point out why some people have and others do not. I was making this point the other day on a hub that Old Poolman wrote. There are those who try, and those who wait with their hand out. To me it really is that simple, and that's not to make light of anyone's REAL situation, someone who really is poor with no foreseeable way out.
As for the Occupy crowd? I think their numbers are inflated by the news media. I don't think, at least I don't want to believe, that the folks who think along these lines are in the majority. God help us if they are. As for WHO they are? Well, I'd suspect a good many of them have been given EVERYTHING by their parents. Parents who pay for their children's education, pay for their children's cars, help their children with their first rents, give their children credit cards are in a mindset that money is something you get for nothing just because you exist. They lack the principle and basic understanding as to how it gets earned, and once they are forced into a position to have to earn it they are like lost puppies.

You come across in this thread as someone very ideologically driven. I see that you've stated that your beliefs aren't an ideology but rather "the way man should live", but this just demonstrates how deeply entrenched your way of life is. This is a democracy not a theocracy. If anything in this election for the first time, we're beginning to see cracks in the coalition between the Republican party and the socially conservative demographic. We can see that by the fact that in all likelyhood, Mitt Romney, a moderate, is set to be the Republican candidate for president. Whether this is a good thing or bad thing who knows, but it's clear that despite what he's currently saying, he certainly isn't conservative on issues such as homosexuality and abortion.

But that's the main aspect of what any ideology is, people convincing themselves that they are definitely right and others are wrong. Also, if your aim is to stay true to your own beliefs you wouldn't really be voting for either Republicans or Democrats. Mitt Romney is as much about greed and power as a man can be. Most people who reach the top of the tree in polics are regardless of their party affiliation.
The only person running who is actually true to his principals and actually believes what he says is Ron Paul. He can't win, but he at least is planting a seed of liberatarianism in the minds of people who overwise wouldn't have even considered that school of thought.
I am a believer that conservative values is not an ideology, but an attitude. I was told recently that we need to leave the attitude at the door...that attitude was a bad thing....

icount, you and I see it different, I too believe it is an attitude as CMerrit does, I also believe conservatisam is a fundamental truth, and not to be lumped into the pile of fantasy the left believes in. No liberal on this site can argue with me or debate me. Not that I am a great debator or know everything but because once I throw truth at them they can never stand up to it.

left says the rich don't pay their fair share, truth= IRS says top 10% wage earners pay 90% of all taxes,
Obama says its not fair for plumbers to pay taxes and not the rich= truth is plumbers with a mortgage and a kid pay NO TAXES, they get it all back at the end of the year,
Left says we treat minorities bad and unfairly, truth= The Asian community is the smallest minority in America, they do not have federal minority status, why? because they are educated and make too much money as a group. Never hear that on CNN do you? This proves there is something wrong with culture not politics and racism in America.
Left says we need to live like the Europeans and the hollywood left says we need to be like Castro, truth=look at Greece, Cuba etc. ......all I can say is really?

American Romance - Conservative attitude, conservative ideology, we can call it what we will but it all boils down to the same thing, an outlook that dictates "i'm right, you're wrong". We could say "Liberal attitude" too. What word is used makes little difference. Wordplay just another technique people use to convince themselves that their way of life is right and others are wrong.
Doesn't it strike you as odd that you are against almost every single thing the Democrats stand for? If I picked ideas out of a hat you'd be bound to agree with at least some of them. The reason you are against all of their ideas is because you follow an ideology. It's tribal. It has very little to do with truth, and very much to do with allegiance. Democrats are the same. Both groups view the other with suspicion, which is quite sad really.
Again, I'm not singling anyone out, because the same applies on both sides, but if you want a hub called "rid us of ideology" try to realise that you yourself are deeply entrenched in ideology. Go to any country they'll have a different take on things. There's more than one way to skin a cat. People have different ideas about things. They're not always wrong for soing so.

Warren also paid federal withholding while making the money to begin investing with! Not to mention his 15% is millions compared to the secretary that will get all hers back at the end of the year!
The list goes on from Republicans want to starve the elderly and don't care about the poor of this country! I can keep going with the lies about global warming to millions of taxpayer money going to stupid things like Solyndra! GM makes ZERO profit on its hybrids because NO ONE wants them! Democrats fight tooth and nail to force crap on Americans that they don't need nor want! Instead of allowing the things we can use and make money and creat jobs! Keystone pipeline, farming in the Delta, timber in Arizona and New Mexico! As president I could create over 50,000 jobs in 24 hours just allowing the above mentioned jobs! Instead Obama and the Dems killed them! Results? forest fires destroyed the timber that could have been recovered last year, the delta smelt lives one year at best and is used for nothing and means nothing to nature or human beings, Canada said if we don't take the oil they will sell it to China, Instead the Dems want hybrids and solar panels.........look around your neighborhood? ...how many solar panels do you see?
Lets spend the day killing the unborn, telling the voters of California that a single judge will overturn their vote against gay marriage, and that parents can no longer discipline their own children! While were at it lets make a video lieing about the deaths of polar bears, and allow terrosist to build a mosque next to the twin towers where they killed 3000 working Americans! And of course send our military boys and girls home so Iran can wipe Israel and us off the face of the planet.

GE? Perfect, This shows how little you keep up with the real world, The CEO of GE was on the financial advisory board for who? Yes Obama, he got billions in stimulus for GE, then moved a major part of GE overseas! Nothing sounds fishy to you about your president? And you are right they paid no taxes! There is a little more to it than that, Seems they had tax credits for investments etc. meaning they had some major write offs, Still I agree that if GE can take stimulus money then close plants and move them overseas they should pay taxes, You would have to ask your president about that one!
I knew you would not put your salary on here because I know your type! I would have shown in 5 seconds that you pay NO taxes at the end of the year! Therefore fairness for you and millions of other koolaid drinkers is mute! Oil companies take bad raps and yet pay billions upon billions in taxes! Something the libs never want to discuss is some corporations grow their companies therefore they have depreciation and write offs so they may not pay taxes that particular year. What libs fail to discuss is the sales tax they collect and turn in on their goods, the tax off the thousands that are employeed, etc. I would have no problem with simply forgetting taxes on all corporations, and just allow them to hire more, sell more, and purchase more raw materials, the taxes from their growth would be more than enough to sustain this country!
I think many conflicts people have are because it's not as simple as right of wrong. Propoganda exists on all side. What has happened to peoples' mindsets to make them hate people of other political outlooks is not healthy. It doesn't help anyone. Thankfully most elections do not come down to what polar opposites think of the world, but instead which way those 20% of so in the middle tend to vote. That's why compromise and being reasonable is useful for everyone. You do not convince people who like to look at the pros and cons of things in a sober light, by being at the extreme of an argument, or by saying i'm right and that's the end of that. That's not an arguement, it's a mantra.
The whole reason that Romney will end of being the nominee is because he's someone able to appeal to people beyond his own party.
You've addressed a lot of issues here. With abortion for instance, I'd say that I'm generally against it. It is by no means something that's positive in any sense whatsoever. However, some people argue in that even in cases of rape or terrible birth defects abortion should be illegal. I think that's an extreme of an argument and doesn't help the debate.
With gay marriage, again it's not as simple as one judge saying it's a good idea. That implies that most people are against all kind of legal recognition for gay couples when in fact the majority are in favor of some form of recognition. Also, if you are in favour of the individual states deciding that gay marriage should be illegal, does that also mean that if the current trend of acceptance continues and states start legalising gay marriage that you are in favor of that?
You failed to address the majority? The CA majority voted against gay marriage in an election, one liberal gay judge overturned it! When law and voting no longer rules we the conservatives must begin to fight even harder to keep out the undesirable libs!
Maybe if they want to stay and vote on issues (Wisconsin)
Teachers not lie to go protest (as role models to our children, again Wisconsin)
Allow the Black Panthers to intimadate voters without repurcussion (as the Obama admin did)
And allow the majority to run this country as it was intended then we could be more tolerant.......but not until then!
That's what I'm saying to you. Being that you're personally in favor of the people being able to make a decision, if it reaches a point where the majority of the people in several states supported gay marriage I assume that you would still be fine with that process (of allowing the people to decide)?
The situation of judges making these decisions comes about because either side are desperate to push their agenda through. It's not a liberal process. Both sides do that. That's what the defense of marriage act is about for instance, trying to remove the states rights to decide how they feel about gay marriage. Surely using your logic that the people should decide, you would actually be against them trying to enforce something that might go against the individual states desires. Of course the reality is that you'd be fine with it, which is inconsistent. Again it comes down to people on either side trying to force their viewpoint through come what may.
The only difference between the two parties is that Democrats do tend to elect someone to lead them who follows their ideology. For instance it'd be very unlikely that an anti abortion, or anti gay rights candidate would lead the party. icount, I am not sure who your debating for? I sense you are an independent? Yes I will go with the majority, but when it comes down to the majority voting for gay marriage I will fight tooth and nail to persuade them differently.
Let me put it a different way, No political correctness here, I could give a crap about gays or them getting married, I simply know that the more we degrade our morals and ethics the harder it will be to get Americans to stand up to the things a person of conviction would normally stand up too! Yes America wanted a deep Reagan conservative for this next election, doesn't look like we will get one. Mainly because so many pubs are really independents I suppose, or they are in the middle of the fence on many issues. It is sad to see our country being squandered but just as in the case of Greece, it will come to a head. ..........then the libs of this country will be begging for a Reagan to come out of the woodwork and save their sorry behinds! I agree with some of your points, but disagree with others. There has to be a balance. History has shown that greed will win out over altruism. This is why unions came into existence. However now many of them are too powerful, driving corporations into the ground with their outrageous employee benefits and inablitiy to fire incompetent workers. We don't need a destruction on unions, we need balance.
I also agree with your comments on OWS. There are jobs available, too many people just aren't willing to go the extra step to get that job. The US government makes it too easy to sit around and collect a paycheck. However, there are many people who are truly disabled, or truly do need a little help getting back on their feet. I think this all comes down to balance as well.
I also don't understand why you are so against gay marriage. I can see that you are a Christian, and care deeply about your faith, so I can understand you not agreeing with homosexuality from a spiritual context; however not everyone is Christian. Not everyone believes that homosexuality is a sin. Of course you truly believe that your viewpoint is the right one, but fortunately, we live in a country that supports religious freedom. I support your right to think homosexuality is a sin. I don't think your church should ever have to recognize a union that it believes to be sinful. However, the state shouldn't be making these decisions. All people should be equal in the eyes of the state.
I'd say you're pretty much stop on. I don't have the confidence in my own stances on life to assume that others simply must be wrong. I can understand why some people would if they are deeply religious for instance, but even then, as we live in a democracy I would have to think along the lines where different points of view are accommodated.
I can of course understand why you would want to fight tooth and nail for something you believe in. That's what others are doing, and it can be good to stand up for what you believe in. Sometimes though, I think we have to stop and take a minute to see if what we are fighting for is what we think it is. I personally don't see allowing gay people to form recognised partnerships is a degredation of morals and think that in the future people will have found new boogey men to obsess over.
Of course everyone is entitled to their own point of view. On any issues within society the coin will eventually left on one side. From that perspective I can see why things can become quite intense and heated along the way. As individuals we have very little say in what happens really.

Elani, big difference between union greed and corporate capitalism. The Democrats started the GREED language against capitalism while fighting to maintain unions. Without profits the economy will never recover, jobs will not be created, growth will never begin etc! It is not greed that makes a man give up everything to persue a dream, millions have done it and failed, those that had success created jobs and growth and trickle down economics! Unions simply walk in after a company gets big and take over without ever sacrificing or working to build the company! They brain wash govt and private employees into believing they are being underpaid and mistreated, they then force the company to bend under their weight to meet their demands! Those demands are always met on the short term, but years later the pensions and high salaries catch up and the companies began to faulter, move over seas or close the doors, refer to GM, Wisconsin teachers unions, and on and on and on! California can in NO WAY meet the demands of their pensions coming into the next few years! So who is going to bail them out? .....answer the rest of the country who doesn't even have pensions!
I think Elani-Lee is on the right track. It's more than possible to have an outlook or ideology, liberal or conservative without buying into whatever the prescribed list of current concerns are. It's all about weighing things up an coming to reasoned conclusions that work for people in general, not just you personally.
I don't feel that it's helpful to call gay people "freaks of nature" and reduce them to a sexual act when people are their interactions with others are clearly much more complex than that. Sexuality relates to attraction and not necessarily what a person does with that sexual attraction. I have very little knowledge or inclination of what any particulalr person does in their own bedroom, nor do I want to know. There are also people growing up who are gay, and when you start throwing around terms that demonise a person, that's at best ill advised and at worst cruel. Lots of gay teenagers kill themselves because they view their culture to be very hostile towards them. There's little need to turn the screw on people in such a fragile state of mind. People are people. Love thy neighbor. I don't think I could bring myself to truly hate a person even if I tried.
I do admire your passion though, American Romance. You say it as you see it and have a clear idea about how you want the world to be. I think you have to be careful though, that you aren't hijacked by political parties looking to exploit this emotion. That's why I quite like Ron Paul. He draws people in from all areas of the political spectrum, because he holds fair beliefs that people can live under no matter their political affiliation, religion or creed. He doesn't aim to scare people or exploit their concerns like most politicians do. He wants the government to interfer in peoples's lives as little as is required. He won't win the nomination but he's opened peoples' eyes up to new possibilities, which is more than can be said for typical tit for tat politics.
icouint, you have a wonderful attitude. Personaly I take the country and the world more serious than you. We could argue about nature and procreation etc. But I see your point, I don't agree with it though! I am not interested in "hurting feelings" I believe our attitude in this country of hurting feelings is what got us to the A B honor role, giving trophies to all kids, winners and losers, then kicking them out of college and having them face the real world without a clue!

Oh almost forgot, do not take my writing to suggest I hate anyone, I do not hate gays, I know some, will pray for them, and wish I knew what I could say to turn them from the perverse addiction they have. Some do change, others have mental problems from lack of male bonding I believe, and some just like nasty, filthy behaviour, but I do not judge them, I just want them out of my life and do not feel they should be able to force themselves upon me and my family......gay parades, laws for their kind etc.

I wouldn't say that I don't take the world seriously, more that I try to be cautious and through with things. I appreciate sometimes being that way might be useful and at other times it may be less so. I guess there are imperfections with any approach to life. Regardless of any approach to life, unless we live in a shell, we're going to come across many different types of people in our lifetime. I prefer to give people a chance. I don't require that people follow a particular religion, or vote for a particular party, just that they are good, caring people. I don't have the energy to create division where it doesn't exist. There are enough real dangers in the world that require our attention.

Morals change as society changes. 50 years ago, inter-racial marriage was considered immoral. 200 years ago slavery wasn't. Its all relative based on societal norms.
I do agree with you that we have to stop with the "everyone is the best" mentality though. Everyone has different talents and abilities, and refusing to recognize that is one of the (many) things leading to the dumbing down of America.

Rid us of Ideology – You have an Ideology made obvious in what you have just written very well. The difference is that the ideology you share with many is that it could be discarded with all others and you would end up getting what you want. Your ideology doesn’t prevent people from helping people; just taking from other people what doesn’t belong to them. Your ideology is necessary in the pursuit of a free society but it will never be attained. There are no perfect solutions but it should be obvious that increasing dependency on our government isn’t making us a more prosperous nation.

I, like others, see ideology all over this hub, but then again, I don't think most ideologies are inherently bad. I think that when people use ideologies to support their personal agendas is when we get into trouble.
I agree with a great deal of what you say. I think the work ethic is in serious decline. However, I know for a fact that there are a great many families struggling now, looking for work. How many of those $22-an-hour jobs you mentioned are available in Michigan, now that the auto companies have outsourced so many positions?
Anyway, it was an interesting read with many valid points.
